100K Service

My 08 Cooper S is nearing 100K (at about 91K right now) and I'm wondering what service I should consider having done.. thanks for your expertise!

Coolant flush

New transmission fluid

New spark plugs

If you've never replaced your serpentine belt it is probably a good time to tackle that.

I'd clean out your intercooler. Use something like Simple Green or a slightly diluted solution of Purple Power. It's caked in oily residue by now.

I would check every suspension component for wear/excessive movement.

Fill the gas tank up with a fuel system cleaner when it's about empty, fill up, and drive the car hard more than you usually do for that tank-full of gas.

Last thing that comes to mind is to remove the intake manifold and see how bad your intake ports/valves look from any potential carbon buildup.

And don't forget to measure your timing chain slack.

It is very simple. You replace the tensioner with the "dummy" one that is part of the timing chain tool kit. Follow the instructions and it gives you a number. If the number is over 68 mm, you need the "whole enchilada". Under 68 mm, you can go with just the longer, "02" tensioner.

After the "full" deal consider an Accusump to make it last a lot longer.

If the shop you go to has no idea about this, find a more knowlwedgable shop.
