I received an order confirmation via email. I don't understand "Just in case you don't get them"... Does that mean the order has been lost? Do I wait longer? How long? Will they ship on my original order or not? If they are in stock, shouldn't I have received them by now? What are you telling me to do? Order them again? I really don't need luck. I need two windshield aprons.

You're talking to two different people here. ECS is just saying if you don't get them from the people you ordered them from, he has them in stock and can ship them ASAP if so desired. Two different companies.

Yep. Just realized that, vetsvette. Thank you for the heads-up, and also to ECS Tuning. I did receive an email from Sean that he was on vacation and neglected to ship the order. So, I will expect them in a few days.

Plastic nut and hex bolt mounts to the outer side to hold in place. #8 and #7 which you can undo the ones you have and re-install in its place.

Do I just need the right apron or #1 as well? Or just #1?

That's part of that top section of the kit. The seal that touching the glass that you can see is bonded to the cowl on the driver and passenger side, You can see that rubber part on the close up of the cowl. Replace in the kit otherwise one section will tend to look darker ( newer ) then the other side.

I am in the market for one of these and the price is fine. However, the website quoted $49 to ship (AZ). Is that accurate?

I was quoted $100 to ship! Crazy, I don't think that's correct since I found the same thing for $14.50 shipped through another vendor.

How much is your local dealership selling them for?

They were like $40 ea (l & r) at Long Beach BMW. It's been a few months and I bought a new antenna, too (it had rotted away as well). I was surprised at the price after just dropping a fortune for a new key. Just call them - they'll tell you the price over the phone.

I was quoted around 60$ each last week at lb BMW.. Hmm. I wouldn't mind paying $40! Lol. Weird.

Do you need to replace part # 1 if you are replacing part # 2 and 3?

Usually that #1 is replaced with the windshield replacement repair from safelite or a glass company the top seal that connects to the window is bonded to those cowls, in the kit we have below linked. The #1 goes underneath and is not seen , it connects to the bottom of the actual glass and then to the body frame a little. buts up next to it. Think they also call that the bottom zipper.

So all you need to fixed that damaged cowl is our kit.

Thanks, I ordered the kit above and it arrived promptly. I am having a problem with the existing piece on the passenger side not staying down in the center of the windshield and needed to be sure part # 1 wasn't the problem. Thanks

I'm not sure why BMW/MINI designed these to be so fragile that they can't even be shipped without damage. Crazy!!! The brand new cowl from ECS for the driver's side was broken in shipping.

I had the windshield replaced in my '08 Hatch this past Friday, but beforehand I bought replacement cowl covers, the top and bottom rubber gaskets, and the 2 a pillar cover pieces. The reason is that the rubber was literally falling away from the cowl and a-pillar pieces. Windshield was replaced (PGW window - great fit and great quality) and the installer put on the new cowl and rubber top/bottom pieces. I installed the a-pillars afterwards (had to pick them up). The front end looks brand new and more importantly all the rubber there to help keep pine needles and other junk from behind these pieces is now back and looking good. I think my cost thru eminiparts.com (bedford nh) was like $40-ish for each cowl piece, and like $45 for each a-pillar. Rubber gaskets were low cost as well.

Anyone have tips on fitting them? My passenger side on sits slightly higher at the join and doesn't create a good seal with driver side.

I'm all ears on this as well. I replaced both sides at the same time and they still don't fit well at the shared seam. After just a couple months the PS started to lift again. Looks like another crappy design from MINI/BMW.

The part that the hardest and makes them lift is above that seam at the bottom of the window.

Pop the wipers off then set them in location, they have some adjustable with the mounting holes on each side. When you install them at the base of the window, make sure they are close as possible and that rear hard plastic lip ( not the rubberized part should snap into the crevase gasket at the base of the window. Then make sure everything is flush and lined up . tightened down the two nuts and 2 bolts. then pup the wiper arms back on.

Also make sure #9 in the pic above it all the way down.

Replaced both cowl covers today. Found the piece that runs along the bottom of the windshield was not completely attached, probably due to having the windshield replace four or five years ago. It appears the windshield guy did not use new adhesive to attach to new windshield. Removed, cleaned all old adhesive and reattached with new adhesive. Difficult to see when attaching new cowl pieces to piece that runs along bottom of windshield, but I think I got it because everything lines up and fits pretty good. Needed to do this for a while, glad I got time to get it done.
