What engine does my 2012 Hardtop JCW have? I have read conflicting information and can't seem to find any documented source of which engine is in the car. I read that in 2011 the R56S switched to a new engine. Does that apply to the 2012 JCW? I will be doing oil changes every 5k miles and did my first change at 1000miles. I am curious to know which issues I should look out for long term with the timing chain and carbon buildup...

No, the standard 2011+ 'S'-models have the N18.
The 2013 JCW have the N18.

Just the same issues like every other N14 owner...
Do your preventative maintenance and it'll give you a good start.
