Please HELP! Loss of engine power ? intake ?

I have a 2011 turbo mini. SO far I only added an NM eng. air intake and a hot side boost tube (muffler delete). Three times this month my mini has stalled out while accelerating onto a highway. I hit the gas and it slightly jerks forward and than all engine power is lost. There is no response from the gas peddle so I steer myself to the shoulder. The check engine light tells me I have lost 50% engine power , take it easy driving and visit a shop soon. I simply turn off the car and turn it back on and everything is fine, no lights stay on.

My trip to Mini of Mount Laurel yielded them telling me the code claims my engine is receiving too much air. Therefore they told me to reinstall the stock air box and if it proceeds then its their problem.

HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS BEFORE ? ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS?
Is this really my intake? I have had it installed for five months now and it just starts acting up this month, i don't understand ?

I love the whoosh of the turbo so I figured Id remove the wide open NM air intake and replace it with a madness ram air that is boxed in and receives air only from the hood scoop. Since this air filter receives pressured air from only in the box I would think much less air would be forced into.

Any suggestions? Thoughts?

Check the hoses coming off the intercooler. Make sure all the clamps are tight. I ran an intake for almost a year and a half without issues other than loss of low end power. I did have a loose hose coming off the intercooler and the results were similar to yours. Not sure if the MAF sensor could be causing the issue too. Good luck.

Scanning the ECU to determine the current fault code(s) will help you in your diagnosis if you cannot locate an mechanical issues (like loose tubes, etc).

What was the EXACT fault they pulled?

I think there's something else lingering that just an "intake modification".
As noted above, time to do some digging and check all connections on the system before making drastic changes.

I will be remove the NM intake tomorrow and go back to stock air box, then im gonna beat it on the highway and test it out and push it to have the same fault. Then im gonna go to Mini and sh*t on their desk.

Still stalling on the highway. Returned to mini... now they told me my hot side boost tube is the issue. This is bull. Something is wrong with my car and they keep pushing it onto anything but their parts. A tube that removes a muffler/baffle box would not stall my car out and reduce engine power. They told me the clamp was loose and so their going to tighten it up and quote "clean up everything all in there". Wtf does that mean? I installed those clamps myself ... 110% tight. So now I will most likely have to pay for new parts to install the old muffler just to prove to them that again their wrong about the issue. ANYONE EVER HAVE THESE ISSUES ??

It would be extremely helpful if you're able to post MINI-specific fault codes from an approved scanner.
That way we can assist your diagnosis and help you focus in on the areas of concerns.

Because right now it's a witch hunt to determine the cause of the issues.
