Limp Mode, No CEL? Huh?

I'm getting the limp mode, half-power light on the tach, but no accompanying CEL and when I check for codes it's clean. It shows up under acceleration. If I turn the car off and on again, it's gone. Ideas anyone?

My loss of power issue cause by code P2885 throws the half power on the tach without a cel on the speedo. Turning the car off and back on again brings the power back but the tach image stays. The tach message and power loss you're getting have to be the same code and issue (boost/vacuum leak and/or faulty diverter valve), but does the image go away completely when you turn the car off and back on? If so I got nothing.

A few weeks ago, at a track day, I got the limp mode engine light and a P28AA code (but no CEL) which the Accessport defined as "Bypass Valve Error". At that time, I was able to pull into the pit, turn the engine off and on, then keep lapping with no light. I went back to the stock tune and the same thing happened, so it wasn't the tune.

I replaced the diverter valve this weekend. Now I can drive easy, without going into boost, and no engine light. As soon as I go into boost, it comes on.

After leaving it overnight, the engine light went away. If I turn it off and on, it now stays. But no code or CEL.

GKP, you need to hook-up to a approved MINI-protocol scanner (like a Bavarian Technic unit) and determine the faults at hand.
Even with no CEL, there will be stored fault codes that you can use as a reference.
