Question regarding the internals: are the pistons forged in the JCW?

I was debating this when ordering our Roadster. We opted to go S with options than a bare bones JCW. I was the right call for my wife and I as we are loving what we have with no regrets. To be fair, I do not know what I am missing as i didnt drive the JCW. No desire to either. I have a hard enough time avoiding tickets and excessive speeds with the S. Each to their own, there is no shame in "justa S".

We just upgraded to a JCW from an S, I'm happy and wondering why I didn't do it sooner.

Very interesting! I did not know that...

I wonder if that means they are assembled in Germany from mostly Peugeot parts. Or Does Germany cast its own blocks and transmission cases and internals etc...?

It was best stated by those saying if people are paying it - that makes it worth it - to those people!

Obviously it's not worth it to everyone, which is why the volume of factor JCW models is fairly small.

more HP, reinforced tranny, Brembos, aero kit, wheels, black headliner, electronic diff.

If you took a MCS and added an aero kit, R112 wheels, and a JCW tuning kit, i think you'd be close to $6000

More HP, reinforced transmission, different gearing ratios, reinforced engine block, Brembo brakes, different engine tuning, different turbo, JCW Aero Kit, anthracite headliner, free options of different dash surfaces (normally $250), 17" wheels standard with 17" sports tires and JCW badges.

Trying to justify why the JCW is $6000 more if it's only .5 sec faster than a MCS in 0-60 is kinda missing the point. Are there skid pad numbers out there to compare as well? And as others have said. It's hard to put a dollar amount on warranty coverage for a JCW as opposed to building a MCS to comparable numbers and having a warranty claim denied.

$6K is a whole lot better than the nearly $12K they charged for the R53 JCW.

I'd get a Coupe JCW, now that looks mighty sexy and might I add, one fine ***;-). I will definitely consider it since they will stop making Coupe's after 2014:-/.

Trasmission, gear ratios and engine block are identical in the JCW and MCS

Not for Model year 2013 MCS and JCW

Engine:
MCS = N18B16M0
JCW = N18B16T0

Transmission:
MCS = G253
JCW = G253 TU
Automatic will be the same.

Final drive:
MCS = 3.647 Manual
JCW = 3.706 Manual
Automatic will be the same.

Wow, didn't realize they were doing that for 2013.

Should I amend my statement to say all N14 MCS and JCW are identical in the afore mentioned ways

Isn't 2013 the last year of the R56 anyway? So the 2009-2012 (the majority) will be the same and 2013 will just be some fluke year.

Why is it $6000 more? Because they can get that much more. And some people will pay it because they want the even faster version.

Is it worth it? Not to me--but then I got a Justa; the S wasn't worthwhile for me personally. But it's worth it to some folks: they pay the $6K, and others who don't think it's worth it don't pay.

The difference is only $5,350 the way I'd build a S vs a JCW. If I cared about the 17" wheels or the aero kit the difference is even less, like $2,600.

Not sure where you are getting that number. My sticker was nowhere near $12k on my 2006 JCW.

I went from an S to a JCW - spend another 900 on a tune - then you have a beast!

Better performance keeping the warranty, better price when you need to sell it, more interesting for the future buyers of your car.

6000 for a different
Turbo
Manifold
Catback
Intake
Brakes
Bodykit

IT worth for me.

The tuning kit $6K, aero kit ~$2.8K, brakes $1,250, suspension $1,250, add tax =~$12K.
