Rear hatch trim removal question.

I have a 2008 MCS. How is the plastic trim that allows access to the third brake light removed? I am referring to the brake light at the top center of the rear hatch. Any help would be appreciated as I don't want to break anything.

Found the answer in the interior forum

Installation Instructions:
1. Gain access to the third brake light by
removing the trim housing located inside the
rear hatch. The trim piece is installed with
retainer clips. You should be able to remove it
from your deck lid with normal hand tools.

I am in a similar situation and need to remove the rear hatchback plastic panel to get to the rear wiper motor. Are there any tricks to remove the panel without fear of breaking retaining clips?

Minicircuit,

I only removed the upper piece to access the third brake light. I just used a flat head screwdriver as a prying tool to pop the retaining clips loose. You may need to remove any visible screws, but otherwise the trim is secured by plastic retainer clips under each piece of trim.

It took quite a bit of pressure to pop loose. Recommend you use some sort of wide flat tool as a pry bar. I was successful with the screwdriver but am sure better tools would have helped.
