Driver's side window help

This has happened to me a couple of times since I've had my MINI: The driver's side window a) won't go up all the way with one flick of the switch (I have to hold the button to get it to go all the way up); and b) when I get in and out of the car, the window opens about an inch or so and doesn't close all the way when I close the door.

I somehow fixed it last time it happened, but for some reason now I can't seem to remember how.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

- Rob

If it works anything like my BMW, you need to reinitialize the sensor. Lower the window without using the auto feature, when the window hits bottom, don't release the switch, but hold the switch in the down position for 20 seconds. Raise the window without using the auto feature, when the window reaches the top, don't release the switch, but hold it in the up position for 20 seconds. This works on my 330 Ci. Let me know if it works on your S.

^^I have heard this as well. It seems to have worked for many but there were a few that it didn't. Well worth a try.
The trick is to hold it in the up and down position for 20 sec.

I've also heard that if you don't occasionally let the window go all the way up or down it will eventually throw the
sensor off and that's when you have the problems. Then you have to re-initialize it.

+1 on your comments.

Also of note is that the Official MINI document on this only states to hold for 10 seconds but a few extra does not hurt.

If this does not work then the car needs to go to the dealer for a reprogram of the windows. Or it can be done with NCS Expert or some of the other programming that can be found in the Electrical Section.
