R56 topside oil changer
No, just one tube...but it has fit every car I've used it on. I had an issue with using it on a Jeep I had simply because I had to set the tank/pump up high for the tube to reach....but not a problem on the MINI of course.
Just bought my first Mini in January and not crazy about crawling under or ramping it. Curious to hear how long the suction tube guys have been driving their cars and how that is working out.
I can tell you that I have had 6 BMW's and my MINI, I have used a top side sucker for all of them. I change my oil on them every 6 months and have had no motor issues. My MINI has 55k miles on it and has had a performance tune since almost day one.
Manufacturers recommendations...
I can surely appreciate what your saying and what works for each of us is something that helps us sleep better, yet if you truly feel for a second the manufacturer is advising to the best longevity at 12-15k miles with 4.6 gal of oil, your seriously mislead, there isn't a race engine out there that uses oil more than once per race / heat or main event, in daily driven the amount of soot and sediment that builds in the oil is what kills the engine from surviving hundreds of thousands of miles, Car makers are in business to sell more cars, not to provide you with the best possible lifetime cars, they want you to replace that car in 3-5 yrs... Sure oils today are much more complex, yet they are not all created equal and there are some created for specific uses and must be used correctly, many engine builders do not tecommend long intervals is what I base my practices upon, the car makers want their cars replaced not to last too long, it's about profit more than longevity. Seriously, 15k miles is crazy for that small of a sump. Especially in a turbo engine!
Just my opinion and I sleep better knowing my oil is always clean as honey!!
Be smart and recycle..

Haven't changed the oil on the MINI as yet, but when I use the topsider on my AMG cars, I would warm the oil, and then remove the filter before pumping. Once removed, all it takes is few pumps to extract 8+ quarts. Glad to see this post......
I've ordered a Pela 6000 to use in place of my Topside oil extractor. I like the idea of being able to see how much oil has been sucked into the spherical plastic container. The container is marked with capacity lines. Sounds like a good idea.
As to the idea of particulates being on the bottom of the oil pan, I think things would be in suspension after the oil has been warmed up from having run the car. The tube would be drawing a stream of fluid in the same way as a stream would flow from a drain plug. I don't see much difference.

Grab some vinyl tubing from Lowes or HD, you already have a oil tub, connect it together, plug it in and turn it on. The fun part is imploding your oil tub as you figure out its not strong enough to withstand the vacuum, so find a large jar or something. It is a fun project. Also pick up a valve so you can throttle the vacuum...sold next to the tubing at Lowes. Then, you can make carbon fiber parts using vacuum molding :-)

MY parents had an 06 mini non-s. The oil pan bolt got stuck on the bottom and would not come off no matter what. My father bought this and my brothers and I went to work changing the oil. Had the same exact problem. Our solution was to have someone hold down the pump against the can, which worked. Don't use it anymore since the 06 got traded in, but it really was a terrible product. It's funny that the video that shows this product in use shows it working with no problem and the oil change lasts maybe 20 minutes.
