Well, I went a different route than I originally had planned on, and bought a 2012 MCS. It's black and has the JCW Aero Kit. I don't have the exact list of options in front of me, but I know it has the black headlight housings, xenon headlights, white corners, and center armrest. I got it last Friday, and am up to a little over 300 miles. I can't wait until the break-in period is over so I can really start to enjoy it!

I did get almost $3k off MSRP thanks to USAA's Car Buying Service, so I was very happy with the deal I got. I don't really plan on doing any modifications in the near future, but the 1st thing to go will be the RFT's. You guys weren't kidding! I'll post pictures this weekend, after I get it washed... Darn construction!

Thanks for all the help!

Billy

Congrats Billy!

FWIW, and after-the-fact, but my advice would be to get what YOU want.

For individualism, Just HAVING a Mini is individual enough, JCW's are even more, but you're likely going to modify it to make it yours anyway.

For actual features, the JCW gives you a little more power, some brakes and some bling. You can add power, a set of good brake pads, and bling for less than the JCW charges, so unless you want or need the JCW bling (or simply want the factory to do the mods for you), you're as well - or better - off with the MCS. It all depends on what YOU value.

Now, spend some of the $ you saved and personalize it, spend some to tighten the nut behind the wheel on a nice HPDE day, plan on non-runflats when the time is right, and bank the rest!

I think the main thing that attracted me to the JCW was the aero kit and wheels, and since this car had both, I'm happy with my purchase. The only downside will be trying to keep a black car clean.

Having driven both the MCS and JCW, I came to the conclusion that the MCW would make a better daily driver. I may eventually take it to some auto crossing events, but it will really be more for fun than anything.

I've got the astro black, it's not so bad, and if you like the car you'll keep it clean anyway. The only pain in the neck part is keeping the hatch clean with the dust that settles there, but again, you won't mind. Congrats!

I hear you there. The pollen is out of control already in our area. My wife's Celica GT-S is black, and my 6 hours of clay barring and waxing this weekend was pointless by Tuesday. Oh well, it will give me something to do on Saturdays, and I actually enjoy washing my cars. Although it is frustrating when the efforts only last a day or two.

Congrats nonetheless!! personally if funds permit, the JCW is the way to go. But as others said, a MCS is a unique car so not bad choices, just different.
