do i need to tune for a few more pounds of boost??

hey guys, im getting a manual boost controller and i was wondering if i NEED to tune for me to push about 17psi of boost. I do understand it would be more efficient but I am waiting on money to get a tune before the summer so should i just wait or is it safe??

Manual boost controller will not work on these cars. ECU freak and go into limp mode.

A tune is the only way to go.
