How do I know if I have a N14B16A or W11B16A motor?

I just purchased a 2007 Cooper S and have seen mention of two different motors. N14B16A or W11B16A. How can I find out which one is installed in mine? I want to make sure I get the correct oil filters, plugs, etc. when the time comes.
Thanks.

doesnt your owners manual tell you which one it is ?? or it tells you, you either have one or the other? If it doesnt tell you in the manual id see if you can check by VIN number. I forget exactly what each digit represents but you might be able to find out ... if not id post a picture and maybe some of the mechanically inclined people on this site can identify it for you .. best of luck buddy

any pics of your new baby?

If purchased in US it should be the N14B16A (this is the double overhead cam and turbo).
The W11B16A (this is a single overhead cam supercharged). Don't think it's from US.
My 07 MCS is the N14B16A and has a build date of 10/31/07.
Don't believe the owner's manual specifies.
Also, the N14 is 1598 cc.
The W11 is 1600 cc.

Thank you. I looked in the manual and the door jams/under the bonnet but couldn't find any clues. I even have the original window sticker the previous owner saved - no clues there either.. Mine is definitely a US turbo model and my build date was in Nov 2007.

www.realoem.com has an easier way than guessing...put in the Last 7 Digits of your VIN # and it will tell you in the 7th column which engine your MINI has!!

+1 This is also my suggestion if you are in question of what you have.

Assuming you have a hardtop S then yes you have the N14 with the turbo, if it was a convertible then it would have been the W11. You posted in the R56 so that is helpful too.
