Crank sensor seal

I was having rattling noises coming from my engine and thought it was the chain tensioner thing. I'm out of warranty at 57,xxx miles. I took it to the dealership and they said the car was 3 quarts low on oil.

The stealership said that The front crank sensor seal needed to be replaced at a tune of $512 as it is leaking and the passenger side axel seal is leaking ($499). When I asked them if it was the front or rear axel, they said rear. I said ok. Provide me with the part numbers for both parts. It took 4 different people to figure out what the tech was talking about and they kept me waiting for 45 minutes with no answer. One guy said, it has to be the front axel because the car doesn't have a rear axel seal. I said "I'm only going off of what the mini tech said"-- I don't know what the hell the dealership was trying to do. Rip me off for nearly $1,000?

Has anyone replaced the front crank sensor seal? Here are the part numbers they gave me....

11-11-7-5688-264 $20.55* SHAFT SEAL
23-11-7-545-082 $13.98* SHAFT SEAL
***FRONT AXLE SEAL****
83-55-0-416-599 $86.520 TRANS AXLE FLUID

Can anyone confirm?

Help!

Front crank seal leaks all the time on Gen 1, probably gen 2 also. You can see the leaks if you look under the car. You also can just add fluid and leak all over the planet too, it is cheaper that way. Just keep checking levels.

I think they meant the crankshaft seal (part 1 on link), not the crankshaft sensor seal.
The R50/53 have a crankshaft sensor seal (cheap $2 o-ring) for the
crankshaft sensor that bolts to the front of the engine, but it looks like
the R56 crankshaft sensor (part 3 on link) bolts without a seal at the clutch side of the
engine.

So I take'r in for a normal oil change and leave finding out that my crank sensor seal is leaking as well (220.00 to fix) and that the auxiliary cooling fan low stage is inop (780.00). My question is, how hard would it be to fix these myself, and are they major issues?
