Tape on engine wires???

Anyone know what kind of tape is this covering the wires in the engine bay I'm trying to switch up the wire covers

Electrical "Friction Tape" which has a fiber cloth layer. You can get something close at a hardware store, only problem is it may have a lower temperature adhesive.
When you want to take it apart again the goo may be rather messy, but still not as bad as plastic Electrical Tape.

It looks like you may be able to buy OEM tape from the dealer: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...=61&fg=15&hl=7

Otherwise, try an auto parts store, which may have tape with correct temperature adhesive.
