Exactly, I was just pointing out why it might not be such a hot item for theft, compared to those on a truck, which the OP used as the reason for the discussion.

 

Hmmm.... I did spare tire maintenance on mine just last week. I was pretty embarrassed with the condition I let it get to. It would have been useless as a spare since all but 10psi of the air pressure had bled off. It must be released from inside the car. The long plastic handle thing in the tool kit is your friend for lowering and raising it from the ground. Mine had 4 years of road debris and dirt packed into the top. It is now nice and clean, aired up and even coated with tire protectant. You CAN check tire pressure from underneath if the air extension tube is hooked up.
