Electrical Problems

Recently I started having electrical issues with my 07 Cooper S convert. Last week the window wipers would not turn off and the airbag light was flickering. Those self corrected but now I have a number of problems:

The AC lights were flickering but are now completely off
radio remains on even after the key is removed
windshield squirters no longer work but wipers are fine
seat belt light stays on

Any guidance is appreciated.

could have a short somewhere... only way to find out and diagnose is to trace harness's and see if all connections are good.

With it being an 07, I am guessing out of warranty. I'd take it to an auto electic service specialist. Electrical issues and be tough to trace and those guys have experience in these types of things. It may seem expensive at first, but they'll be able to run things down faster than just a general service tech. With that many issues, I'd suspect some damaged wiring shorting out. Best of luck. If it's any consolation, this is very rare.

First, replace the battery and make sure it has a *good* connection (no corrosion, tight).

Oh but I see you have an '07. Go post to the First Gen forums for more accurate help.

Mine had similar problems and it turned out the battery was weak and about to fail. Replaced and all was good.

WOW! If that's his answer, and I hope it is, that is a really simple solution. I am glad I saw it here and hope I remember it if/when it happens to mine.

Same issue.

Turned out it would have been big expensive repair (if no warranty). First my seat belt lights went off. Then the brake wear light. Then the airbag light. Then my ABS started to kick in to early. The warning lights were going off like a Christmas tree. There is a unit underneath the emergency brake that needed to be replaced. It is the heart of all things that have to do with safety. Mine happened at 80k but was covered under my 100k extended. I have 2005 Cooper S Conv. Hope I am wrong.
