Well, not dead, but pretty damn close to it. Driving along the Turnpike, cruise control set to 80mph. Just had the thing inspected last week and had my tensioner chain replaced about 2 weeks ago.

All of a sudden, seemed like engine lost power and went into limp mode. Pulled over and it felt like the entire car was shaking. Check engine light was on. Popped the hood and saw the engine engine shaking back and forth pretty violently.

Turned it off and checked for any leaks, everything looked OK. Let the car rest for a bit and turned it back on, same thing. Got towed over to my mechanics, who will be looking at it tomorrow.

Anyone have any thoughts on what it could be?

 

Hard to say... losing spark or injection in a cylinder or two would do that. Hopefully it's nothing drastic!

Yup, sounds like at least one "dead hole". It could be something as simple as a wire or two that isn't plugged in all the way, or it could be something as bad as mashed valves that don't seal.

Here's hoping it's something relatively simple and cheap!

 

I had a similar problem just this weekend except I had no engine light on, I would really like to hear about what they figured out what was wrong with it!
