Heated seats worth it?
Hi,
I am getting ready to order a 2012 Cooper S Hardtop and am considering the Leather/Cloth (Toffee) seats. Does anybody know if the heated option is necessary with these seats? I've heard that with leather seats you want to have heat for those cold winter days but I'm not sure if that is the case for the leather/cloth seats.
I'm also not opposed to the seats being a bit cold when I first get in. I wonder if they would warm up just as quick from my body heat as they would with a built in heater.
I'm a bit over budget and trying to decide which options to drop. I'm not planning to purchase the power heated mirrors, so the cold weather package is not an incentive for me.
Thanks for any advice!
Chris

My wife seems to think so (as a passenger) but I'm not too fond of it. My leather seats warm up fairly quickly with body heat. But then again I live in Northern CA (SFBA) and it rarely goes below 60*.

I live in Houston, TX and love my heated seats. I use it sometimes in the morning on the way to work and sometimes in the evening because the warmth feels good on my back. I wish we could set to only turn on the back part because I would use that all the time if we could.
It's good to just turn them on, let it warm up, then turn them off.
Get them, you'll be glad you did.

If you're a guy just remember that heated seats can cook your *****. It can make you go sterile over time. No man should ever cook his *****. Read about it on the Health web sites. Very bad voodoo.

My better half likes the heated seats, even early in the fall and late spring when the temps are mild. I only use them occasionally when the car has been sitting out in freezing temps and turn it off maybe a minute later. But for my spouse, it was a mandatory option.

I live in the PNW there a must up here as well!!
Heated seats are indispensable to me, I use them every morning, even in the summer.
This summer on Car talk they discussed how it's usually women who prefer heated seats and men who fore-go them ....

Not only is the seat bottom heated but the back is heated too. I had a tight back one morning and drove around for an hour with then on and felt better the rest of the day.
Also, if I have the air a bit cold for my wife and comfy for me, she will bump it on the low or mid level and we are both perfect.
In south Florida, it is still worth it.

How hot do you get your seats! You don't use them everyday and you don't get it so hot you are sweating. Christ, my "*****" get hotter simply working out in the gym.
I guess I'm in the minority then. I live in central PA and my 2007 had heated seats which I used only 4-5 times in 4 years. They were too hot for me even on the lowest setting so when I ordered my 2011 I passed on them. My MINI is garaged and so is almost never outside overnight. If it was I would probably consider them.
