I had a black automatic 2010 S convertible with the JCW tuning kit (189hp) and JCW exterior package and over time really regretted selling it. So I ordered a new S convertible over the weekend. I was disappointed when I was told Reef Blue was no longer in production for new orders. I was really set on Reef Blue. I changed the order to Highclass Grey after checking out the pictures here (thank you all for sharing the great pictures). Now I am more excited about this color as it seems to change so subtly in the different lighting. I ordered an automatic again with the Sport Package and the Always Open package. This time I plan to keep it stock. (I know those are famous last words but this version is already 181hp as opposed to the 172hp in the 2010). I really look forward to driving a MINI once again.

Reason: theoretical build your own shot from MINI website
Mmm, I'm considering a new 2013 Cooper with Highclass Grey but I'm not so fond of purple. Is it really that purple? This is the only R56 I've found that matches my specs, but not super picky on colour. Haven't seen this in person, but thought it was more a slate tinged with blue colour?

It's much closer to a deep slate blue, but it does have a slight purplish tinge under some lighting conditions. Actually, one of the things I like about the color is that it looks rather different in different light, which may be why the appearance of the color is not very consistent in photos on the web.

Oh ok, I can deal with a purplish tinge sometimes, I was just hoping it didn't look purple all the time. I was picturing this bright purple lol and thought why is it called grey then?! It looks more blueish-black-grey so was hoping that was more what it looks like the majority of the time. I do like the fact it changes though.
Bought my first MCS in Aug 2020. I haven’t seen any other HCG coopers around yet. I saw Way’s HCG clubman but that’s it.
Bought it bone stock in Charlotte NC with the intention of building a track car. It’s ALMOST finished. I need LSD passenger race seat/harness and to install my brake coolers and then I’m set up how I want it.
I bought mine new in 2012 and it was the best color option at the time. I am in the NE and it has been driven in all sorts of weather condition, including salt season weather, and paint and finish are still almost flawless. They did amazingly well with that color. I love how it shines up and, in the sun, how there is a slight purple-ish cast to the color. My, too, has become a track car, but only mildly so and with the addition of the Gen 3 JCW, it has become a garage queen. And, yes, a LSD is a must for these cars... Do you have a build thread and/or track experience thread?

Enjoy and motor on.
No, I usually fly under the radar on that sort of thing. I am in the group mini track rats and have posted some stuff there but that’s it,
I looked hard at what would go well with the High Class Gray... In the sun, it has some purple highlights and, for my tastes, found that the “orange” in typical red classed with it. That is why I went with a maroon color. I also found that, with the stripes down the center of the hood, the heat from the turbo on my S has cooked the stripe over time... Needs to be replaced, but haven’t gotten around to it... Just a few things to think about.
Not saying don’t try the stripe you are thinking of. But it might be worth going to a crafts store and getting a package of mixed colored paper and checking them against the car in sun light. Or go to a shop with vinyl samples and check them against the car. When I pick maroon and went to the shop to have them put it on, they asked me “what color maroon?”... There are a lot of choices out there... Hope you find a color to your liking.
Whatever you decide... Post back here... it would be great to see what you come up with...
Thanks for the feedback, Eddie. I thought about red, yellow, and orange - I wanted to spice it up a little. The yellow is definitely a little too "out there" for my tastes. You have any pics of the maroon on yours? There aren't many pics of orange to be found. This one is orange over black by the looks of it, but with the lighting in the pic, it sort of gives me an idea of what the grey would look like.
I found a guy in Germany that supplies viper stripes for the R58, pre-cut in 10 pieces. 60 Euros delivered to Canada. Just wanted some input before I pulled the trigger.
I made the 2nd post in this thread (Link)... That surprises me, looking back at it. At any rate there are thumbnails of pictures I posted. Just click on those. There is a picture of the interior, Rooster Red. It has an orange tinge to it. Sorry the lighting isn’t the best, but you can see what that red looks like in comparison to the HCG of the car...
So the orange stripes I ordered are going to be brighter than I first thought, but I'm warming up to them. They are the same colour as Volcano Orange that was available a few years ago. Hopefully will brighten up the grey. They are their way from Luxembourg now.
