I don't know about everyone else but this thread is worn out and pretty lame now.

I think it deserves to die..

Carjack? Really?

Most of the thousands of carjackers around here use guns. A locked door and rolled up window isn't going to make me brave enough to say no... I'll unlock the door, get out, and say have a nice day...

Really... It's so rare, it would be like being hit by a meteor,

I love autolock for its lockedness. I like the double pull for its quirkliness.

Carjacking is not an issue as I love the 2nd amendment and chose to protect myself and family over being a victim.

I don't see the issue here. In many cars when the door is locked you can pull as many times as you want and it won't open. The mini handle works just like all other cars when the door is unlocked, just pull it once to open. But its better than most because when you pull it while it's locked it unlocks it in preparation for your next pull. Either unlock your doors first like you would in most cars, or understand the benefits that you are perceiving as annoyance.

Then you are an idiot and are putting innocent people and your family at risk, just to play John Wayne. Say you do manage to get off a shot, and you do hit the bad guy... As he's falling he wildly sprays a few rounds and hits the pregnant woman and she dies... Good trade? Just give up the car or your wallet... Or worse for you... You miss and hit the prego woman...

If you are a trained law enforcement type, then you are a bigger idiot, because you should know better.

Stupid 2nd amendment or not... Heck, the way I read it, if you want to own guns, fine... Join the well regulated militia... (National Guard in the modern case), I've got a nice arid place for you to go shoot your guns with lots of targets.... We'll even provide the guns...

Wow what a tirade. Obviously you are not one that should possess a firearm. But the 2nd amendment is for the protection against those that might want to do harm to me or my family. I lock my doors but I also exercise my right. You sound like a fanatic.

How about we modify the door handles so that a third pull of the handle fires a bullet into the crotch of any carjacker who happens to be standing next to the door?

Lol like that could happen, you couldn't even fit 2 prego women into a mini.

Wow, sorry to hit a nerve there. I see that it isn't worth writing a cognitive rebuttal as this could turn into a stick vs auto thread or regular vs premium thread. I will continue to leave my autolock on and do what I choose to do within my given rights and pull my door handles twice.

Like water off of a ducks back this one goes.

Somebody start a "should you carry a gun in your car" thread so we can discuss carjacking and self-protection? (is that allowed by the rules?)

Nah, there is a gun thread though. I post to it now and again. That would probably be the place for your suggestion. Boy richardsperry would sure spice that thread up some. I would probably have to pull out my and watch.

But then we would be hijacking the gun thread, and I was looking forward to the fireworks!

I prefer how VW handles this. Doors lock after 10MPH, if you turn the car off and pull the key out the doors unlock, and if you stop without turning off the car a single pull still will open a locked door.

Its the small things that count.

I think with NCS expert you can enable auto unlock on shutdown or park.

Just saying, it's probably not a good idea to carry a loaded gun in the car. It's not legal where I live... Or to try to stop an armed person that wants your car or your wallet.

The discussion about the interpretation of the 2nd amendment is for another time, (but I bet they NEVER intended the way it's turned out.)

Florida has pretty decent laws on gun carry in a car or on a person (with a CCL). I couldn't imagine living in a state that would not grant me these things.

On a lighter side this was my original thought...

"CRABCAKES AND FOOTBALL, THAT'S WHAT MARYLAND DOES!"

what state does not have a CCL (concealed carry License) I know for a fact georgia has easy ones to get so many other states won't have their licenses carry over into that state and viceversa. But I don't know how you guys are on the subject of seriousness when this all started from a sarcastic comment about a gun in the car as a booby trap.

I think you need to direct that question to richardsperry. He is the poster that went ballistic.

Richard America is about freedom and choice. It is your life, you as a human do what you feel is right.

Lets take your wild hijacking case and change it. Say the hijacker gets in from the passenger side, and says to drive. You have a gun on your left hip, he is pointing the gun at you but not really paying attention and keeps looking over his shoulder. Then for a second he moves the gun to adjust something. This is your chance, you go for your side arm casually when he is not looking. Holding it up, while stoping the car. You tell him very loudly to Drop his gun out the window. When he does you drive him to the police and yeah!!! you win!!! woohooo!!! the Crowd goes crazy!!!!

But in all seriousness. This is life, and why people choose to do is their business. If someone wants to feel protected with a firearm near them, then so be it.

Several states make it almost impossible to get a CCL. California for one. They have some of the most retarded gun laws. I think NY is another.
