When i bought my mini the 2 key fobs i received didn't have the silver ring around. i didn't pay any mind to because i thought that is how they came. i now know that it did come with it so i went to mini to ask and they charge 25 bucks for 1 ring. anybody know where i can get it cheaper? thanks

 

Where did you purchase your MINI ?

If it was pre-owned from a non-MINI dealer, the original rings were made of plastic and plated with chrome. More often than not, the chrome peeled off and at times the plastic would crack and fall off the fob.

The new rings are made of metal and should last the life time of the MINI.

I have not seen any aftermarket fob trim rings for these yet.

 

That could be fun. I read somewhere about someone who took their metal ring and scuffed it to give it a "brushed metal" look (It may have been here on NAM). I wonder how creative these could get if there was a market for aftermarket rings.

The older R56 MINIs had plastic rings which might be cheaper.
