Used Key from Ebay can I program it?

Hi there, I'm new to the site and I have to say it's amazing and full of intresting stuff

I have a MINI S 2007 (R56) and I lost one of my keys, I asked the dealership and they qouted me $400 for a new one. I bought two used keys and two new blades from Ebay for around $80. I'm fine with the blades I can get them cut no issues, the thing is I don't know how to program the remote can anyone help?

You can't reprogram them. Looks like you got yourself some cool paperweights!

Maybe?

I recently bought an R55 which had lost a key. the dealer was to get me a replacement. After a little delay it came in.

I knew it had to be programmed. Now the bit I am not certain about is if this key was pre-programmed to the vin number or something, but introducing it to the car was easy.

The introduction was to put the key in the dash holder and push and hold it in for at least 10 seconds. Then you pull it out and and try the remotes. If they work you are done. If not try it for longer. Worked first time for me.

Again if there was some factory fiddling done then it is not so simple. On the other hand does that mean that any keyless mini key will work with any compatible mini?

I think you are describing a brand new unprogrammed key and the op has two already programmed ones.
