Retrofitting options...

Since it seems like everyone pretty much orders and gets the options they want, I don't see many posts where members on here are retrofitting options they did not originally get. Because I bought my Laurel Edition used and they were pretty much preconfigured by the dealer, is there a way to retofit the homelink mirror, alarm, and heated seats?

It's possible, but the wiring and programming (homelink) are over-the-head for many and don't want to tackle such a project.

In BMW cars the homelink was a standalone unit that does not require any programming other than for your garage. It just requires a power source. No one has done it?

Mainly people think it's simple, and they usually quit early...
But if you're persistent and know some basic 12v DC wiring, you should be able to handle it.

Thanks! Its a worthwhile option esp if you have more than one garage door. I will look for one off of ebay. Btw, Mini parts prices are much cheaper than BMWs!!! this is great!
