Radio Reception Problem

My '09 MCS with HiFi sound system just started losing reception. All FM and AM stations that are not nearby in the same town barely play and fade in and out. Impossible to listen to these stations any more and there are only a handful of stations that work acceptably. No noted issues with iPod or CD yet. Antenna is still intact on the roof and nothing has been touched anywhere in the car that I can tie this to. Anyone else have these issues and what might be the problem? I did a search and seems only one other person has had similar issues.

First this would be better posted in the NAV & Audio Section.

Second. there is actually two (2) antennas on the car. The one you see sticking out of the roof and the second one is a wire in the drivers side window.

These antennas use a diversity amplifier to determine which one has the best signal and then that gets passed on to the radio. So if the diversity amplifier is bad or has no power then it will cause the exact problem you are speaking of.

If you car is still under warranty then the dealer should fix it for free.

Had it in to the dealership. They said it had thrown a code and the problem is the IBOC has an internal fault. They ordered a new HD radio control, which is in inside the trunk on the back right. We'll see what happens when I get the new module in.

Just to button this one up, the new control unit IBOC solved the problem and all stations come in well now.
