Drilling holes in the body of my Mini.

I want to mount a iPad in my Mini. Right now the best option for this is to drill 2 holes into the drivetrain tunnel (close to the shifter). Using a RAM Mount B Connector and than RAM Mount Ipad Mount.

Is this a good or bad idea? I have looked under the car and seen pictures and there does not appear to be much in the tunnel in that area. I do realize I need to remove the heat shield....

Should I be concerned?

No help here. But I want to mount mine in the car also, so let me know what you end up coming out with.
Thanks much

If I mounted mine I would put it right in front of the big speedo in the middle.

If it does not interfere with anything below, and that's the location you like, I would use stainless screws and coat them with RTV sealant. Also take pic's for anyone else who may want to do this. Good luck.

Sounds like your best option. I don't know why you would want to remove the heat shield if you don't have to.

Hav you thought about using the center console to mount it instead drilling holes.

the center console is made out of plastic and I would have to drill holes into that as well. Its not as sturdy and there is not a good mount point.

I have thought about using a PROclip attached to the centerline... but that too is a little flimsy.
