R56 This is pretty ironic!
My little car was used when I bought it. One of the things that sealed the deal was the excellent condition exterior wise, that it was in. I suspect that the previous owner had taken care of any earlier rattle issues, that it may have had but it also had higher mileage on it, which enabled me to afford it in the first place. I also suspected his reason for trading was to avoid some of the issues that might come with any car with higher mileage, which I've taken on and am prepared to do.
If I were to pay top dollar for for a car, I'd have already had some sort of idea what their shortcomings might be and either buy it and be halfway prepared to deal with it, or forget it.

The interesting thing is that none of my friends with BMWs have had problems with things like rattles, when I ask them. I'm sure some people do of, course, but it seems like some work could be done at the MINI factories to get more consistently non-rattling results like their BMW brethren.

My '04 S was rattle free relatively speaking, but my '10 S is a rattle "magnet". Every other week I get a surprise "rattle". Also, I feel that my 2010 has more road noise on the inside to the point that on asphalt highways we cannot carry on a normal conversation. Yes, I still have the OEM GoodYear Excellence RFs (7,900 miles); Yes, I did check the tire pressures. I am currently talking to one of our local audio shops about installing sound barrier in the doors, boot, floor, and fire wall. It hope it also help with some reduction in rattles.
