R56 Coming back to a Mini
Coming back to a Mini
I've said almost from the moment I sold it that I miss my '05 MCSCa. Finally got fed up with owing money on its replacement so I sold my '10 Lexus IS 350C a couple of months ago and got a 1994 XJS convertible. It's a nice car and I love the look of it but it will be a bear to keep as my daily driver for long.
Soooo, I'm probably going to look at getting a new MINI. It will be a bit since I'm not going to get one until I can pay cash for it. That'll be about a year or a little more.
I'll be looking over the forum again to see what's going on with these cars but I thought I'd say hello and ask a question...
What kind of differences am I looking at between my '05 first gen S and the current crop of hatchbacks?
TIA,
Tony

You'll be buying at the right time, the R56 platform is well-sorted by now. I can't believe you daily an XJS, you're a bold man.
The current hatches are maybe a bit more disconnected than the '05, the power delivery is different but I do prefer the N18, and the interior is just a plain nicer place to spend time. You can option one to the hilt, the loaded MINIs are very nice cars.
You'll find problem areas with the platform but many issues are limited to earlier build dates. The R56 is a great daily driver, highly recommended.
