The Death of Nigel

Well I am just now posting this. Three weeks ago I was sideswiped on a local highway and put into a slide.
i went off the highway, went airborne sideways, rolled and came to rest on my wheels. Body damamge came out to be 17.8K plus major engine damamge due to the motor going into "hydro-lock" [whatever that means].

Any way Nigel, the three time Dragon veteran was declared dead. My MINI did what it was supposed to do and sacrified itself. I had some bad back and neck pain for three weesk or so, [I was taken to the hospital] but for the most part walked away from a rollover doing 60 mph

I was in a difficult situation. I decided to replace it with a JCW but could not find a suitable replacement with the options I wanted. Compromising on the build for an existing car was not an option. and I had a wait until at least Oct for the 2012 JCW to hit the dealer. I ended up taking the settle ment money and put it down on a black loaded 2007 Honda Accord V6 manual Coupe. I got it for 10K, about $4000 under retail since it has 120,000 miles on it. I plan on waiting until next spring to take delivery of a Roadster JCW.

Overall I was very impressed with how well the MINI stood up to such a bad crash.

I can now scratch "Roll a car on the Highway" off my bucket list.

By the way, check out my signature for a "happier" picture of Nigel at the 2009 MOTD.

Holy crap. Glad to see you're okay! I'm planning on trading in my JCW for a roadster JCW when they come out too.

BTW- Hydrolock is either when water gets into the intake or when fuel floods the cylinders in liquid form.

Although I was pretty bummed after it happened, it will give me a chance to get into the Roadster. I'll be out of a MINIuntil April or May but the Accord I bought is a pretty good car too-though not a MINI. The Accord is a good long haul daily driver as I do 100 miles per day. It gets good mileage too!.

As a family, we are not really out of the MINI universe. My wife has a 2011 Countryman S and we are planning on buying my daughter a 2008 Justa [she says it HAS to be Laser Blue] when she gets her license next year.
