"Mini on Lift" Warning Light On

this evening while driving home, warning light came on showing Mini on Lift (red) with BRAKE ...Anyone know what this could be?

Only thing done to the car this past weekend was have my two front tires replaced, I changed my oil and put in the NM torque arm inserts.

I'll have to call the dealer to get it checked this weekend but was wondering if the car is safe to drive. I didn't feel or hear anything weird when I was driving it.

Thanks for any info you guys can share!

I think it's telling you it's time for service... Briefly press the button in the turn indicator lever repeatedly until "SET/INFO" is displayed. Briefly press the button repeatedly until the corresponding symbol and "SERVICE-INFO" are displayed. Cycle through that menu and you'll see what service is required.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to look at my manual again but I think I have to get the rear brakes checked.

If you read carefully it tells you everything it wants/needs.

If I'm not mistaken that's for inspection.

A mini on a lift in yellow is brake sensors.... A mini on a red lift I think is brakes.

In either case, I’m pretty sure it’s brake related.

Yes. I believe it is. I have the red lift and the brakes stay on. I checked them today since I lowered the car but I still have some pad left but the rotors seem they need to be replaced soon. Measurement that I got on them were 10.1 mm in the rear and 7.95 mm front. Do you know what the normal measurement should be?

Thanks!

When I get to work, I’ll look it up on Alldata and see if it will tell me. The other thing you can do is look at the rotor itself. Usually the min. requirements are stamped into the hat portion of the rotor.

Here’s the thicknesses found on the web.

Front minimum thickness 20.4mm
Rear minimum thickness 8.4mm

So glad I found this thread, my "mini on lift" and brake light came on tonight (red) and I about had a heart attack, and looking in the owners manual they say that the journey must be stopped and contact the dealership asap. but glad to know its (hopefully) just the brakes... now I can tell my dad I knew what I was talking about when I said the brakes needed to be changed.
