So i've been a real doofus.
I carelessly left my glovebox open, locked the car and went for work....
Upon my return 9 hours later, i unlocked the car and noticed that my glovebox was left open and the light in the glovebox was on.

I carried out an 'experiment' that night and made my 'mistake' again. Was pretty shocked to find out that the glove box light stayed on even though the footwell lights went off.

So here's my question - was the light in the glovebox on throughout the 9 hours or did it turn off automatically after a certain time period?

Car is barely 2 days old, hence my concern. Thanks!

 

Did you sneak up on the car and not unlock it to see if the light was still on? I know locking and unlocking the car will wake it up. Similar to the gear selector lighting up on an automatic when you lock the car and the light doesn't go off for 1-20 minutes.

This might not work if you have comfort access as it know when you are nearby.

My question to you is why is the glovebox open for so long?

 

I think that glovebox light will time out in 15 minutes, just like the gear indicator light on the auto. Same thing with the doors....leave one open, and after 15 minutes all the lights time out.
