2011 MCS sunroof

I'm debating on trading in a 2008 MCSa for a 2011 MCS the only problem is it has a sunroof and was wondering if they still had the rattle problem in the sunroof and if the car body flexs too much?

No rattle, except when just popped open, and it doesn't seem to negatively affect the stiffness of the car either.

mine still rattles, slightly when both panels are vented up, but more so when the front panel is slid all the way back. Still worth it IMO. My MA asked me which preferences I'd like my cooper to have, and the first thing out of my mouth was the sunroof

agreed, the panoramic sunroof is one of my favourite things about this car. mine doesn't make a peep when open fully though.

jealous-mine makes a lot of noise when it's all the way open and I'm not driving on smooth pavement (which is rare in New Jersey, our roads swallow our vehicles..). I'm still trying to figure out the source of a "clicking" noise that sounds like it's coming from one of my drivers side speakers at certain frequencies when I have my music on. The only thing is that it only happens when I have the sunroof open, so I want to attribute it to that, but can't figure out what on earth could be causing it...

No problems at all with mine. And it's been in the high 90s here lately. No rattles, nothing to complain about at all.

Mine gets stuck occasionally after sitting in the sun (fix it by pushing it up with my hand or drive a minute to cool down) and I do have rattles intermittently when it's open. But I wouldn't personally have a Cooper without it - it's easily one of my favorite options.

I really like my sunroof also, it doesn't rattle either.

No rattles so far after a month. Since, I am not fond of air conditioning it sure would be tougher appreciating the ride without a sunroof.

I have absolutely no rattle whatsoever
Open all the way, slightly or closed never heard a thing from my sunroof.

Love the sunroof - absolutely essential. No rattles in almost 7K miles. I also looked at VW GTI and BMW 128/135 and measured sunroofs. MINI's is bigger. One of many things that tipped the scale in the MCS direction. Of course, I gave up my 04 Sebring Convertible for the MINI and the "convertible" feature was far and away the best part of the Sebring. I thought about getting the MCS Convertible, but the nearly $5K premium wasn't worth it, especially with the sunroof option. Based on recent Mini Cooper Convertible sales figures, I guess I am not the only person with that opinion.

My favorite option too. Mine sticks occasionally after sitting in the sun, I give it the nudge also and it pops open. It's great - I have had convertibles and cars with sunroofs, I'll take the sunroofs. Especially these panoramic types on the minis. Oh, I forgot to mention, never a rattle.

07/06/11 - Sorry folks - not paying attention. I added my post and didn't realize we were just talking about 2011s.

2800 Miles on ours. We haven't heard a peep and we use the sunroof quite a bit...

Since we are on the topic of sunroofs, I hope it's ok to mention mine, being a 2007 model & not a 2011.

When it's open everything is pure heaven, with the sunny weather & all. But when it's closed, something rattles everytime I drive over uneven & bumpy surfaces. This is driving me nuts.

Yet to make a trip to the dealer but just to check here. Has anyway experienced similar issues?

Have the sunroof in both the '10 MCCS and '11 MCS - neither one rattle. At highway speeds when fully open, the wind noise is much less than we had in our R53s. I have the sunroof wide open frequently and wouldn't buy a MINI without it.

Another nice thing about 2011 Mini sunroof's is the much darker tint. Mine doesn't rattle at all either.

2007 is still an R56 so I think it's justified posting here

I also find you can drive on the highway when it's raining and not get wet.

The downside is the increased wind noise at highway speeds, especially in the middle of Canadian winter when the seals seem to be a little less snug.

I never even thought of owning a Mini without one! It is large enough to make me not miss a convertible TOO much on nice days. Mine has never made a sound and its actually less noisy than my wifes 335i when open at highway speeds.

Yeah but it might be considered off topic as this thread was started for the 2011 ...

I've had my MCS for 7 months, w/ 9K+ miles. No rattles or other issues w/ the sunroof, and I open it ( at least wehere its venting) almost daily.

I had the same problem and my dealer took apart my door card and put it back without finding anything on Wednesday. I don't hear it now though, but now there is a new clicking noise that sounds like it is coming from behind the dash! more irratating to my ears! and I'm from NJ also, Somerset, NJ.

Back on Topic though, I have a 2011, and I never heard any sunroof creaks, but I never even heard it from my Impreza I had also. but I am LOVING how HUGE it is towards my tint-less, itsy0bitsy one from my Impreza was, lol. I'm spoiled now!
