I am looking at the kits but they are close to 100 bucks for 5 damn wires.

Do any of you have instructions from these wiring kits? Or have a wiring diagram for our tail lights? I have been scouring the internet with little to no luck on any of these.

Someone recently posted a site that the appropriate kit, but I think it was $100.

You can not power trailer lights by tapping the existing lighting wiring. The FRM module is not designed to provide additional power and you can damage the $400 unit. You do want to use the kit or build your own relay assembly!

BMW&MINI has a dedicated AHM module for the trailer lighting that can be installed to provide the appropriate wiring and lighting.

 

I called two local MINI dealers and they both said there is nothing available from them to hook it up. I feel like they are both liars. He did mention that there was one for R53 but said not for the R56.

 

I was just searching for the retrofit kit and there doe not seem to be one specifically for the R56 (at least here in the US). The car is capable of the AHM module, but it looks like here in the US they don't offer it! So in this case I don't think the dealer is being dishonest.

 

When I wired my R56, I had to buy a special harness from MinidoMore just to wire up my car.

The problem is positive grounds or something like that. Check out Minidomores’s site, you can buy it from them for like 70-80 bucks.
