R56 New Mini Cooper S Help
New Mini Cooper S Help
Hello everyone
I'm looking for a new Mini Cooper S with the following options: premium, bluetooth, and cold weather pack. (preferably spice orange and only reason I want premium is because it's free)
So I have been looking for a car everywhere and no dealer has any in stock and they say that they dont specify when they will get new cars.
I just wanted to know if anyone here knows when 2012 cars should be hitting dealers or of a car equipped like that in the the NYC tristate area. I don't mind getting a 2011, but I can't find ANY! I find it unrealistic that new shipments wont be coming until August.
So if anyone can share some information that would be a great help.
Thanks in advance.

I prefer not to wait until August and I want to get the premium pack free.
All you can do is look and hope you find something close to what you want, if you refuse to order.
Yes they only bring one shipment of MINIs from the UK every few months. US MINI sales volume doesn't justify more. They do them in production runs because many minis are made to order, the main element in the MINI business plan is customization.

There are weekly, if not more, shipments to the US. If you order it probably will take 8 weeks or so to get exactly what you want delivered to you. Many, many people do exactly that.
See other threads such as Countryman and see how may people on this forum are tracking their cars as they are shipped here.

My friend ordered her 2010 Clubman S, and I ordered my 2011 Clubman S. Ordering your car, following it through the production process, and tracking it on the ship is a fun experience.

I know the MINI dealer in Raleigh, NC usually orders those packages on their cars. Not in the tri-state area, but maybe you can get it transferred or have a nice long journey back with your first trip
They use to have several SpiceOrange cars on the lot, but looks like they are all gone from the inventory now.

Incentives come and go - chances are you will get something free at delivery if you order it. We ordered this time last year when incentives were free auto in converts and 2.9% interest. At delivery we got free premium and 1.9% interest - so we made out. You roll the dice on incentives with an order.......
Order it today and you will most likely have it in late July.
At this point in the year and the lousy car buying market, I would be surprised not to see some sort of incentive no matter what month the car comes in. I ordered mine July 5th last year and had it by August 3rd. It's agonizing, but I know that this car is completely mine. Let's be honest, if you're looking at a MINI, this is most likely not something that you decided on yesterday and have only wanted for a week or so, but something you've thought about for some time. Is a month or 6 weeks more that much of a stretch to wait?
Obviously, I'm basing my comments on having the luxury of time to wait for a car. If it's not something that's feasible time-wise or financially then I would try calling the nearest 5 or 6 dealers. The inventory on many websites can be very skewed. One thing my dealership would do was update their inventory daily and it would even include customers custom ordered cars that would never hit their lot. This way should a sale fall through, they may have someone waiting in the wings, but in reality these cars would never be available. So you may be better off calling a motoring advisor to see what's out there.
