Mini Cooper CAI

Has anyone seen this cold air intake? it's on ebay for about $50.00
I recall reading a thread someone posted with a picture of this particular intake. I've also read a thread by someone saying that in their opinion,"an intake is a intake is a intake" I may buy it and try it on my 2011 non S "justa cooper" It reminds me of the DYI intake threads. Any thoughts????
Thanks.

Looks like something pepboys would carry. The best CAI is a JCW with a high flow drop in filter installed.

He doesn't have an S. And for the cheap "universal" crap intakes you find on ebay, you would be better off just buying a cone filter.

Hey, that is a RS Type from D5!

Nice! I've been meaning to get a CAI and replace that POS JCW stage 1 kit intake!

I'm definitely interested in buying a cone filter... just need to find a post or thread "how to" information... I'm trying to steer myself away from spending $200+ for a CAI/HAI and the $200+ ones would be, K&N Typhoon, DDM and AIRVIP 2.5

That whole piping looks like terrible flow. And I've said it once and will say it again. You get what you pay for. And a filter is not just a filter. Trust me.

Here is a picture of the VIP AIRVIP 2.5 air intake. It's made specifically for 2007+ cooper non S.
Cheers.

Idk on non S. I am a stubborn KN fan. But you only gain 3HP from it anyway on non s. That's what K&N claims. Plus I like the deep throaty sound a K&N had. Loved it so much on my 2004 base Cooper

That intake doesn't look too bad honestly. Goal is to get cold air and freely.

Cool... it bolts right on top of the stock air box, replaces the stock lid. I must admit I like that K&N throaty sound as well. I'm not to concerned about minimal hp gain. A better throttle response is what I'd like. I looked at the stock air intake system my mini and it seems to me a bit restrictive, because the plastic hose that lets in cold air through grill which leads to a smaller box that has a hose connection to it which leads to the actual air box and finally to the MAF, seems like a lot of twists and turns to establish good air flow with the OEM set up? Hmmm...

I've never seen the r56 non s setup but I wouldn't doubt it man. I hate a lot of factory things. But with factory... Things tend to break less
Oh the joy of aftermarket
