R56 British Racing Green II Owner's Club!
the excitement of picking up a new car is one of the better feelings in this world! the day i picked up my car, i wasn't sure i was gonna take delivery on that day. i didn't sleep the night before b/c i had to head out at 3am to go fishing. my apt is 2hrs away from the fishing spot, and the dealer ship was about 1.5hrs from fishing. i rolled in completely disshevled and exhausted. 3hrs later, i traded in a car for decent value, negotiated some bonnet stripes to be thrown on the following weekend, and drove off the lot with my now 3 week old mcs. and it doesn't end there...i just picked up a stealth black alta fmic!
Sorry... pics are horrible quality (cell phone) and feature my mug (double sorry), but I've been enjoying motoring for over a week now. Love the car, color, and my chrome (triple sorry to all the chrome haters). OK, now I've got to figure out how to upload these bad photos. Matt
Made it through the week of travel and am picking mine up tomorrow at 10AM. Then Wednesday I have to travel again until Friday, so won't have much time with it until the weekend. Will post pics when I get a chance.
does the thunderbolt cam have a setting for "clean car", where taking a picture with that setting will make your car look clean? i've been meaning to take some non-iphone shots, but the car gets filthy within a week.
I wish haha. Not its an effect called vingette on this:
nice. does the suspension need to "settle"? the fender gap looks extra large. this was one reason i stuck with the 16s - just an illusion, but the gap looks smaller/more proportional to me with the 16s. I do not intend to lower the mini as this is my daily and don't want an even harsher ride (already have a lowered 240sx).
Could just be the angle of the shot, but last time I checked, BMW/MINI ships new cars with these plastic spacers in the springs so that the cars don't bounce around during transport. Actually had a buddy drive his new M3 1k miles before convincing them the car was riding rough. They finally checked it out after numerous complaints from him, and sure enough they forgot to take out the spacers in his springs.
Yep same thing happened on my 2008 GTI. They left the front spacers in and it looked terrible.
It then became a issue where the front springs didn't settle like they should have and they had to replace the front springs. The front was about 1/2 to 3/4 of and inch taller than the rear...

probably right about the bump stops. thinking back on looking at new 3 series (xi's) i'd see some at the dealership that looked like they had a huge fender gaps and would think WTF - that looks weird - maybe it was the wheels or suspension not "settling" yet. i did not know about the bump stops...
