Sunroof wind noise -- will a wind deflector help?

I just got a 2011 MCS with the sunroof.

I love the way the car drives, but the noise coming from the sunroof is quite irritating. I usually leave the sunroof in the vented position (slightly ajar), but this results in a huge amount of wind noise at any speed over 40mph.

I don't know if my car has louder wind noises than others and the sunroof can/ should be adjusted to fix this. I doubt it, but I seem to notice it a lot more than others. It's quite noticeable and frequently drowns out the radio.

Any solutions? Anybody tried an aftermarket (weathertech) wind deflector?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem on my 09MCS... the dealer has "adjusted" it twice but it has not made a significant difference. The wind noise renders the bluetooth option useless as no one can hear anything... I just went and bought a earpiece and turned the bluetooth in the mini off... what a shame...

Anyways, I have been looking for the same answer as you are and hopefully something is really out there...

I purchased a wind deflector from outmotoring.com. It reduces the noise some what but not completely.

I find that the sunroof on the R55-R56 generation is noisier when in the vented position than the R53 generation but quieter when fully open. I have mine wide open weather permitting and at highway speeds.

The adjustment people are talking about is only for closed position noise.

The sunroof can be very noisy in the closed position and if adjusted properly can be almost , but not quite as quite as a hard top.

As of any adjustment for noise when the roof is in teh vent position - No there is no adjustment for that noise.

A wind deflector my help but the cars I have ridden in with one on are noisier with the roof closed than without it. So there is some give and take on putting one on.
