So it seems MINI was running a special financing rate, with a "free option" deal for Feb. Looks like it has expired.

I'm thinking about getting a 2011 MCS, but wasn't ready in time for the deal. Do they do this all the time? Think I could still get it if I pulled the trigger towards the end of this month?

I think my dealer said they were offering a discount if the premium package was on the car. Atleast that's the way i understood it. I don't know if it ended in Feb or not.

I just ordered a new one last week. The "free option" deal was set to expire at the end of Feb. but I was able to lock in the special financing for 60 days. Sometimes they do extend those special deals though. Hopefully they are running it when mine comes in.

Do their lease deals on S's ever get better, because from month to month they seem to worsen? I am wanting to lease a MCS and the leases are atrocious.

Where did you see this? I'm trying to find it on the miniusa.com site. Sounds like the same deal they had for Feb.

Look at the Special Offers in the MINI Financial Services under Shop on the MINIUSA site. The 0.9% is for up to 60 months now, was only up to 24 earlier.

Yep, I see it there now!

I actually went into the dealership and talked with a sales person. She just got the deal today and was going over it.

Funny thing though: If I order a MINI now, I'll get the interest rate locked in, no problem. However, she mentioned that I might be be able to get the free package because I would be taking delivery after the deal expires. Sounds a bit fishy to me. What's your guys' thoughts?

The way the program works is that we can lock in the rate for a certain term (60 or 90 days depending on your location and how long MINIs take to arrive) but the option credit they do not allow us to lock in on an order it is something that if it is around when the MINI comes in you get it and if its not then you dont, but MINI financial servies does not allow us to lock it in

Thanks for the info. Still sounds a bit crazy though. In my view, I ordered the car when the deal was going on; that's the deal I want. Sure, the financing is the big thing, but $1700 is still a nice chunk of change.

It is and I understand, but since you are not actually completing the purchase and funding a loan until the MINI arrives they can not assure that extra discount only the subvened rate.

Trust me I wish we could secure it at the time of order too it would make it a lot easier of a process. But we are lucky to be able to lock in the rate even because recently we couldnt lock the rate either as in November or December we couldnt secure financing rates for orders

I'm going to find out about this today. I mean, even if MINI USA can't do it, I'm going to ask the dealer to do it. Just seems silly really.

If they can't, it might be the deal breaker for me. If MINI is doing this to move cars off the lot, then that tells me that sales aren't what they should be. If that's true, I should be able to get some money off the MSRP ($1700 would be nice :D ) Otherwise, if these things are selling like hot cakes, then they shouldn't have any problem moving product off their lot and giving me this deal to custom order one.

For some reason, MINI lease rates are almost never very attractive. Weird coming from a company (BMW) that has built a lot of their US market with subvented lease deals.

This isn't unique to MINI. Auto manufacturers from time to time offer special incentives to boost immediate sales. They have to put limits on them, or they would just run...well forever.
The financing lock-in is interesting because that's a new development. When I picked up my MINI in late November, 0.9% was set to expire that month. My dealer rushed the car through so I could take advantage of it and I took delivery on November 30. As it turned out, the rate offer was renewed for December, but they didn't know that until the last minute.

I understand this, but another way to look at it is like this: If we are expected to pay (or close to) MSRP for these cars on the premise that they are selling quickly (supply and demand), then there should be no reason BMW has to offer an incentive to sell cars.

However, if they aren't selling as well, and they are offering this incentive to sell cars, then I don't see myself paying (or close to) MSRP for the car (supply and demand).

Anyways, we'll see how this goes at the dealer. I got a feeling they're not going to let a sale slip through over $1700. Esp when there are 3 MINI dealers within an hour of me, and 5-7 within two hours of me. :D

Just remember...while this "free option package" promotion is going on, your local dealer is getting reimbursed, or getting a reduced invoice, for the cars sold under that plan. Once it expires, and he's paying full invoice for his cars again, there's much less incentive to give you an additional discount.
It's been documented many times here, MINI invoice versus MSRP is about 90% and they have no holdback. Therefore "just $1700" is a pretty significant amount.

Well, I ordered my MINI today and got BOTH the 0.9%APR and the "free option package". At first they didn't want to do it, but I told them it's a deal breaker and without, I'll go shopping. So they did it. Whether they ate it, or MINI ate it, I don't care, cause it's all on paper now.

So I guess the moral to the story is this: stick to your guns. You are the customer.

How much off is the premium package option? I see it as $1,750 on the mini website but my dealer said it was only $1,500 off...can anyone explain this? Has anyone taken delivery with the "free option" deal in place and what amount was deducted?

I leased my justa for $199/month for 36 months at 12k miles/year and $1700 off of invoice From what I could gather at the time I made my decision, I feel I got a good deal. $199/month for this car, albeit just a regular cooper, but has cold weather package, bluetooth/ipod connectivity and the sunroof, plus a good service contract, IMO is pretty damn good. There are ford's, hyundai's, honda's, toyota's/scion's and other brand cars on the market right now offering around $20 less per month for a lease on a car with fewer options. I rather cough up the extra $20/month and continue driving my dream car

Salesman offered 1200 option credit + 1000 down payment match for anything on the lot before I even looked at his inventory. I got 2.9 for 60 and free winter mats too.

Just placed deposit on a 2010 non S convertible. It has 1,800 miles on it and listed for $30,900. Got it for $25,500 and got them to throw floor mats. I think I did pretty good. Can't wait for some warmer weather to go topless.
