I'm a total newbie - just got a 2011 MC (Horizon Blue) last week and I am in love! Didn't think that I could be in love with a car but I totally am. I've been having such a blast zipping around in the car!

Anyway, I tried to search the forum regarding my question on the ambient lighting in the car but haven't been able to find a direct answer, so maybe someone can help me?

I know that the ambient lights turn on when you have the headlights turned on but this morning on my way to work, I noticed that they're on during the day too. Maybe I'm dumb and I just didn't notice them on my commute yesterday but I didn't think that they're supposed to come on during the day?

Does this have anything to do with daytime running lights? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

 

they are on at all times, even when the engine is off but the fan or such accessories are in use

 

yep! one of the coolest features of the car! it's definitely normal for them to be on even when the headlights are off, although if you choose a lighter color in a darker tone, it will be harder to see. You can see the color best in the daylight if you look at the passenger side interior middle pillar where it says "airbag".
