Experience with 87 Octane fuel

So, last week my wife took the 2009 MCS and filled it up WITH THE WRONG GAS. It's not like she didn't know... but anyway, I'm over it.

I thought that I'd share what happened with the car.
- all week it's been idling roughly, and I can hear some mild detonation
- power doesn't seem to be down very much, but it's been raining here for weeks, so it's hard to know for sure.
- the most interesting thing is that normally on a tank of 91 (all we can really get around here), I get 110kms each for the first two corn kernels on the gas gauge. with 87, I got 30kms each for the first three kernels. I doubt I'll get more than 480 kms to this tank. Normally, I get over 600 in half highway, half city.
- The weirdest part is that the computer is still telling me that it's getting 27MPG, which is about what I get on a normal tank.

Anyway, I can't wait until this tank is completely gone so I can put some decent fuel in the car again. Anyone else experienced this with a tank of 87 in the turbo engine?

I wouldn't wait to to use up all the "wrong" gas. I would advise you to top off your tank with the "right" gas, and literally blend a better fuel.

that just stretches out the time i have to run the damn thing on this stuff. it's nearly gone, I'll be back into premium the next time I drive it.

I damn near spit Sierra Mist all over my laptop!

As for the OP, that sucks but at least it is only one tank. Just don't let it happen again lol.

why didn't you just throw in some octane booster? Seems like a cheap way to alleviate the idle issues. Just a thought...
