Learned to drive stick on my Oct '07-build R56S, usually fairly spirited driving (but rarely boy-racer), with lots of downshifting instead of using brakes. 63,500 miles and no transmission issues (though the engine needed a new short block at 62,500...)

Yes, although I didn't have the extended warranty, MINI agreed to pay for a new short block; I just had to pay the dealer $2200 (including tax) for installation and now have a 2 yr warranty on the new engine. I think MINI's willingness to provide the remanufactured short block shows admission to a faulty original engine, based on problems I'd reported under warranty (cold start/death rattle, excessive oil burn, loss of pep.)

Now that I think about it, I did notice a loss of power accelerating in 2nd & 3rd gears last night on my home - hope that's not the start of gear slippage... (63,500 miles)

My stage 2.5 clutch and pressure plate are in. Stage 2 flywheel side, stage 3 pp side.
Flywheel was cut down, lost a few pounds off of it.

Clutch feels great. Must better grab than stock, lower grab point, smooth engagement (which surprised me) and a very light pedal feel (Also surprising, didnt like it at first but within 50 miles i was loving it)

WORD TO THE WISE:::::
Change your rear main seal when you do a clutch. Mine just went in for a rear main seal 2 days after the clutch and has to be taken apart all over again now.

Dec 08 picked up, 60k miles, so far so good. Disregarding the leaky transmission seal at 1k miles that was fixed.

Around 50K miles on my Cooper and no problems. I get a bit of clutch slip occasionally just heading out of the driveway but it clears up almost immediately - been doing it for ages now with no worsening.

2010 MCS 11,500 K and runs like new. The only vehicle I had to replace the clutch in was my 1975 Chevy Blazer rock crawler. I lasted 3 engines. It should never need to be redone if it is not abused.
