R56 R56 manual transmission owners - post here please!
I traded my leased 07 MCS in at 34k miles (Bought March07 and Turned in May 09). Clutch was fine
I got a 09 MCS (May 09) and i am currently at 21k. So far so good!
The 07 MCS had about 40/60 highway/local driving.
The 09 MCS was about the same for the first 9 months. Now i travel more for work and i only drive on the weekends. So the 09 gets more road trips and drives to my parents (90% highway). But when i say highway it is norther NJ highway so i can be deal with a lot of NYC caused traffic.

on topic... 09 MCS 33k miles strong!
51K on my 2007. It's been to Sebring a few times but I've not had a bit of trouble with it. If the Mini clutch plate material is as durable as BMW's, and I suspect it is, it will last a looooooong time.
Well it's good to see some owners at least making to 40-50k range before having troubles. Thanks for the updates. The way I'm driving my car/babying the clutch, it won't be the clutch that gives out, it will be my passengers
Previous 2008 MCS, 11K miles before selling, no issues. Current 2009 JCW with 34K miles, no issues. I too have had many, many manual transmission cars in my past and have never had to replace a clutch. Even though there does seem to be some random early clutch failures on MINI's, and some pundits here will tell you that their OEM clutches are junk, I don't think the problem is really that widespread. And although I do believe some failures are totally random, manufacturing defect types, I also believe many are due to people without lots of manual transmission experience's bad habits.
MCS 07 49,841 miles
If I have a problem with it I hope it's within the next 159 miles. So far it's been plenty strong. Had it at the track last weekend with no problems.
In addition I've taught many people stick on my car. A few left me in a nice cloud of clutch smoke at times.

So, those of you with higher mileage/older cars with no problems, tell us how you drive/operate the clutch?
I am trying to use my MINI clutch as an "on/off switch" - meaning, no feathering it, not worrying about smooth shifts or launches. I either have it pressed all the way in to change a gear, or my foot is nowhere near the pedal. I figure it might be harder on axle/cv joints, but easier on the clutch. That way there is no clutch slippage whatsover. In other cars, especially in first-to-second and second-to-third shifts I would try to modulate the clutch to make the shift process smoother, but I figure on these cars maybe thats not the best idea.
