Dear all,

Looking back at my previous post, I brought a concern about the "turbo charge" on 2007 model before I bought it. So, I decided to buy it. Now...I can't believe it happens to the car now.

On Sunday, the engine light was on, so I took it to the Mini service, and they check and let me know that the turbo charge needs to be replace. I have no idea how serious is this. Does it happen to 2007 model only? Or it's just depend on your luck? Anyhow, even my car is still cover under warranty, but it is still bugging me to deal with the problem (having my car in the shop).

What are other problems should I prepare to face with the 2007 MCS? Please give me a good warning, so I can be ready for them. I am so sad!!!

Btw, what is a "cold start" that everyone mentions in the forum? Every morning when I start the engine, I hear like a rattle noise for about 2 mintues. I am not sure what's going with that either. Please help as much as you can. Thank you!

Tina

How many miles are on your MINI? They aren't invincible they are going to eventually need to be replaced.

Ya it shouldn't be going out that early. Are you still under warranty? If so have them do it. Cause that is not a cheap repair.

The dealer will take care of the problem, the most important thing you can do to prolong the life of your turbo charger is to change the engine oil periodically - how often is up to you, but I do mine twice a year or about every 7500 miles.

While the car is in the shop, have the dealer listen to the noise you hear on cold start up, if it needs the updated timing chain tensioner they can take care of that at the same time.

Other than that, buy good quality premium gas and just enjoy your car!
