yeah i do understand that, but i enjoy actually taking it completely off from time to time... just unscrew the whole thing lol

I have the offset plate and I'm very happy with it.

My state is considering the elimination of the front plate soon as a cost savings measure (as many states are). I at first planned to take it off when that happened...and be able to have avoided drilling my bumper.

Since I have custom plates...I may just end up leaving it on...

Thanks,

Steve you threw me off for a minute there. Thats not Rainman's car but that is also my nickname in person haha.

That is the GoMiniGo one. Its close but i think that pic is a bit decieving. You can see here its still probably an inch or just over that at the closest point (towards center of car)

some good pics on thier site:

SGACHKO, Most of the plate brackets on the market are universal designs which means that they can be used on ANY car with the right thread for a towing eye. For the R56 generation of minis the eye mounts in a foreward position on the bumper but, for the R53 gen cars the mounting point is sunk down into the front grille making some space needed to mount a plate.

You might be able to modify the Platipus mount by shortening the stud that threads into the car, and the bolt that holds the face of the mount to the stud. It shuld be a relitively easy process with a cutting tool and a tap and dye set.

IMHO this issue should be corrected at the manufacturer's level, but for some unknown reason is not.

I just moved from Florida (one tag state) to Maryland (2 tag state). Since I have a custom Euro tag on the front I will be using the offset mount so I can keep my curent look.

Here is a shot of the Euro Tag.

I like the offset look, except when my dealer decides to run the car thru their wash, and it gets bent. see my gallery

I went with the Platypus mount for my Branwen's front plate. But this is what I hope to get eventually.

So glad I live in a state with no front plate requirement, because they look hideous.

If I lived in a front plate state, I think I'd just say F it and not run one.

Move to a rear plate only state.
