R56 2011 model updates you may not know yet
I'm glad I waited on the 2011s. There's a bunch of changes that I really like.
Though I still think I'll end up waiting till next Spring just so I can skip one winter with a new car.

You've made the right choice in waiting for the 11 BTW, it's probably going to end up being the "'06" of the second gen MINI.
The 3rd Gen isn't due until Model Year 2013, IIRC.
Heck yeah, the 2006 is pretty much considered the best model year for the R53
Good point. Unless BMW finds some way to screw up the 2012
:D Your point is well taken, though... the post-facelift '05-'06 cars are typically considered to the best of the 1st Gens as far as reliability and performance, and it seems the '11-'12 R56's will continue that trend.
They start building them next month. What is the normal delivery time for your area now? Should be similar.
In case you didn't know you can go to the MINI UK site and build a 2011. You can check out the new interiors, colors etc. Only problem is that the site is real slow and not very intuitive, especially after building cars on the MINI USA site for years.
So what new item are you thinking of getting that was not available pre-2011?
Have Fun!

Visited local dealer this week. He claims if I order my Mini now, it will be a 2011. He also claims a mid Sept delivery date. He basically said whatever is delivered will be similar to what I order due to minor changes. When I asked about price he said the order would only be a rough estimate and that the final price would be flat to 2010 or approximately a $500.00 increase.

+1 on that Porthos...the R58 and R59 have caught my eye as well!
Still I am interested in the 2011 situation as that will carry over to the new models as well (we should expect).
Regarding the UK Configurator...I saw some replies on Motoring File that suggested some incredible fuel economy numbers when converted for the US, but Gabe nixed that saying it was not really a straightforward conversion. From the best I can read (on MF), it sounds like the base may improve 2mpg highway putting it at about 39 and elsewhere states that the S should be able to meet that highway number as well due to tweaks in the turbo. All good news, but has anyone heard any more info on fuel economy for the US models?

On the mini.de configurator, you cant have both black headlights and adaptive lights..which is a kill joy. I wanted both...maybe you can get on the US spec...we will see in due time, if not Ill have to choose...hard choice.
