This is why I changed from Mobile 1 to Royal Purple.
It caught so much crap when it came out I think the mag wrote a retraction or a modification. The short of it is that they only tested one extreme situation that is typically found only in engines that are already failing. It is so incomplete that it shouldn't be used for any type of decision on what oil to buy. What is sad is that it still sees the light of day.

I changed over to RP from mobile 1 around 100k miles in my 1.6 Celica. Even new the car never ran as quiet as it did after a week of RP. I sold the car at 175k miles and it was so quiet that the guy asked me to start it when it was already running before he bought it.

So, I have browsed through this thread. My commute is less than 30 minutes at 35-40 mph. The weather is Dayton, Ohio. I park outside at work, garage at home. 2005 Cooper S. Recommend zero-30W ?

By the way, in case anyone is reading this thread and has the Bentley service manual, there must be a typo there, because it recommends 15-40w (fifteen) for service above -10 c.

This confirmed what I always new about Royal Purple. I use it.

However, I didn't know about the Race oil. Is it ok to use in a street/track car?

One note about oil filters:

Evidently everyone does not include the copper crush washer with the filter. Therefore only buy filters that have this washer. You cannot use them again. Once it has been used, it will not seal properly and it will leak.

Perhaps it doesn't have the detergents in it?
