I know you already made the decision to mod it, I am just curious, how you got it in the first place. Did you have to pay a premium to the dealer?

It needs something more than it having a limited edition badging on it to turn it into a truly collectible car.

For instance, the '66 Shelby GT350H was a limited production Mustang for Hertz Car Rental. Only 200 made. It has a real racing heritage. People rented them, taped numbers on them, then raced them on local tracks. Racers rented them, pulled the engines, put them in their cars, raced them, put the engine back and turned it back in to Hertz. Heck, Hertz still has a few you can rent. One in absolutely cherry condition would probably fetch about US$30,000 to US40,000 at auction.

The WC50s going to start around US$40,000.00 Give it a couple of years and you'll be lucky if you can get half that for it. 30 years? WC50 what? It'll just be another Mini Cooper.
Like all special editions through the years whats going to make it a collectible is that 50 are in the US and the color is only going to be on that car forever no other MINI will get that color.

I'm pretty sure it was first come first serve. The WC50 was actually priced a few thousand dollars cheaper then a regular JCW with comparable options.

I put a $500 deposit down on it the day it was reviled at Mini United. That was over 1 year and 5 days ago. Delivery was yesterday so it took me 369 long days of waiting, not knowing if it was coming, told it was not coming, and finally confirmed coming, confirmed I was getting and then shipping and delivery.

My deposit contract was 1st available for the dealership at MSRP. MINI NA is running a special right now so I actually got $1500 off MSRP.

I also say add an aftermarket downpipe, IC, and tune to that list

I have yet to find a DP that has good results in build quality and performance. I have a Riss Racing one in my garage right now for the Clubbie that is hacked together and does not fit correctly.

IC does sound good though.

With all due respect, the only reason to do that is to keep the mileage low so it's worth more in later life.

I know I'm late but my opinion is....

The car is not an investment, it won't make any more money than any of the old sidewalk, checkmate or Camden edition. If making money is the objective, I could think of a hundred things to invest in that would bring more money.

Having said that... if it's not to make money, drive the damn thing. If you take care of it and keep it a long time, the money you sell it for will reflect in the condition of the car.

I'm glad you're modifying it but keeping the stock parts. Making it "yours" is what it's all about.

Thus the reason I ordered a rollcage for mine today.

Mark

PS. God I Love those seats....

I just took delivery of WC50 #402...how the hell did you get $1500 off sticker?

Also, does your car have rear fogs? In one of the pics it doesn't seem to have them.

Can't wait to start modding mine!

Enjoy your mini however you want, do whatever you want with it, because in the end its yours and you're paying for it.
We are taking care of our Camden like if it was the only one ever made, because that's the value we put in our Mini. We are not gonna sell it in the future, but that doesn't mean we are gonna abuse it so that it looks like crap 50 years from now. I think we enjoy trying to keep it as shiny and handsome as it is.
Great move on placing that deposit a year ago, I would have never thought of that. I hope to see one of these in person at MTTS that's for sure

The current deal with MINI is pay in cash and get $1500 off.

It is Baron MINI in Mission, KS.

I am trying to decide how much of MTTS I want to do if any. It overlaps MITM which we love to do. We have only missed one year of MITM because we went to Yellowstone instead. I would think there would be several at MTTS.

There are no rear fog lights on mine. Actually the car if fairly stripped in features. Our JCW Clubbie has homelink and comfort access. Two items I am really going to miss. After three years of just walking up to the car and opening the handle to get in, getting out the key and actually having to put in the dash and then push the button next to it is kind of weird.

This is a DD it will see snow come winter time. I am already shopping for winter wheels.

Home base is in Raymore so expect most sightings in that area. Or on weekends running to soccer fields all over town.

We have been trying to get to some of the events. They are always on top of events that we are busy with the kids. We have been MINI owners for 5 years now with a S vert and a JCCW Clubbie for the wife.

Now dual MINI household.

Man, what a beautiful Mini. I am so jealous. In my opinion, that car is WAY too special to be daily driven. There are so many inconsiderate drivers out there that will damage your car while pulling into a parking spot, opening their doors, etc. The paint is so unique that I'd be scared if anything were to happen. If that was my car, (and I had another car) I would use this car as my "weekend warrior" and take it out every weekend, or special occasions. It will make the car feel even more special. That is just my opinion though. Enjoy the car however you want!

WC50

[quote=wrx_xb9r;3034103]I have a WC50 coming and have a dilemma and would like some input.

Daily driver or garage queen.

Being into cars from, forever, I have never thought much of GARAGE QUEENS. Why have a car if you don't drive it.

Daily driver is what I am leaning towards. However I would put on Bilsten PSS10 coilovers, camber plates, NM rear sway and end links, NM CF intake, hot, and cold side tubes, clear bra, tint, black gauge backs, and black out the exterior chrome (maybe the interior also).

Not bad on the mods, but I prefer the DoS CAI. They sound better, fit better and work better. There is a modification to the firewall area, but Cliff has a modified piece for that, that bolts right in. Also, the tower stabilizer fits now, with better clearances.

Special color?

I wouldn't bet on that color staying for ONLY the WC50. There was, and there still may be bringing that color Connaught Green out in 2011. BRG is being replaced this next year with another BRG. Who knows, that might be the color. Although it has been reported that the BRG will be metallic.

The official MINI quote is Connaught green will not be a production color. It would kind of be like the GP color becoming production.

I did see where the WC50 seats are going to be a 2011 JCW option. I am not happy about that as I was wanting those to be special also.
