Fault codes

Can someone put into layman what this means & explain codes? Send PM.

FOUND FAULT CODE 5E31 STORED IN THE DSC MODULE FOR UNDERVOLTAGE. PERFORMED ENERGY DIAGNOSIS FOR VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THERE IS A FLAT BATTERY. ENERGY DIAG STATES VEHICLE HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN 137 KM IN 38 DAYS.
RECHARGED BATTERY AND PERFORMED CLOSED CIRCUIT CURRENT USING IMIB AND ISID. OVER A 24 HOUR PERIOD THE VEHICLE WAS MONITORED AND AFTER GOING TO SLEEP THE CAR STAYED BELOW .0200 AMPS. THIS IS AN ACCEPTABLE DRAW AND THE VEHICLE IS IN GOOD OPERATING CONDITION. TESTED VEHICLE BATTERY USING MIDTRONICS AND DETERMINED BATTERY MUST BE REPLACED. AFTER A CHARGE AND TEST FOUND THE BATTERY ON HAS 10.67V AND 15CCA. SEE MIDTRONICS PRINTOUT. CODE IS 60SG80THEQ. AFTER BATTERY REPLACEMENT PERFORMED AN ADDITIOAL CLOSED CIRCUIT CURRENT TEST AND FOUND THE SAME RESULTS. VEHICLE IS NOT DRAWING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT AND IS PERFORMING NORMALLY.
REPLACED VEHICLE BATTERY AND REGISTERED BATTERY

Okay lets break it down.

Fault code shows a low voltage for the computer systems

They hooked it up to a very expensive computer that told them the car does not get driven very much. This may or may not be true

They ran a 24 hour test on the car to make wure all the computer systems were going to sleep as they should and found that everything was good and working as it is designed and sleep state current draw was less than .02 amps. I.E. everything is working correctly.
But they questioned whyt he battery woudl then be dead after 38 days. It should be good still.

They used another expensive machine to tell them thatht eh battery was no good and needed replacement. I.E. the battery would not hold a charge.

Just what it says they ran all the tests again with a new battery and everything is working correctly.

The way the MINI works is that when a battery is replaced it needs to be registered with one of the computers in the car. Exactly why I have no idea but that is what is required when a battery is replaced. I suspect it has to do with the battery monitoring system in the car.

Thanks for the quick response and answers.

We have friends with older MINI's and when they replaced their out of warranty batteries only one fob would work. Could not registering the new battery be the cause? If so, how would they "register" the new battery?

Thanks
