Here is how to install Redline leather shift and eBrake boots. I have them and like them.
I actually saw that ages ago, and it completely scared me away from the Redline stuff. That install procedure is a nightmare, complete with broken tabs that are "unavoidable" and far too much disassembly for me to want to wrestle with it. No thanks. I'd manage to screw it up even further!
I have a question about cold starts and whether or not to let the car warm up before taking off...I read in the manual today that you should just start up and go, not let the car sit and idle. What's the reasoning behind that? I feel like I'm going to damage something by starting driving right away when it's 20 degrees and below! For the record, I have a basic Cooper, not an S.
Should be fine driving it, just don't dog it for the first few minutes. Excessive idling can actually do more harm than just driving the car. At least that's what I remember from auto shop class many years ago.

Thanks much! I always figured it'd be better to let it warm up but I guess not! Thanks for the info!
