Ooooohhhh... Burn!

Wow. You really got me on that one. I'm almost ntmid8ed.

What was I thinking? It should have obvious to me what a personal statement a tow hook represents. No reason at all to be curious as to why someone would want to have one of those on their car full time.

I'm firmly in the camp that thinks it looks perfectly silly to have the thing dangling off the front of the car in normal driving, and I often wonder why it's cool to have one in the front, but not the back?

Still, to each his own.....
Yeah, and some people might find it perfectly silly to have roof rails on their MINI.

No reason at all for (most of the public) to be curious as to why we buy Mini Coopers instead of hybrid civics and priuses.. duh?

They don't have tow hooks?

But you know, they still ask that question.

Do you give snarky responses to people who ask such or do you attempt to give them some kind of insight as to why you chose a Mini over a Pious or a Civic?

i tell them-- oh no, it's ok.. i have a civic also. But then again there's no areas on those vehicles where you can place the tow hook

Well, on my wife's car, the tow hook (Plasti-dipped red) completes the "pull here to inflate" joke decal on her front bumper.

Back in my younger and racier days, the old Civic had front and rear tow hooks mounted so it could be pulled out of the kitty litter quicker.

Ah!

I'd be willing to bet that's what the OPs wanting to do.

Thanks.

You'd have to put a big latex finger there instead of the tow hook.
I have the ubiquitous "Actual Size" sticker on my rear window, but it still gets laughs as people pass by in parking lots. I think "Pull to Inflate" works best with the tow hook. Can't think of anything to replace it.

I think I'd get a little more attention than I'd like parking it in the airport parking lot like that.

I like the "Pull to Inflate" along with the tow hook. It classifies people for me. Those who just grin knowing it's unecessary, but functional bling. Then there's that other small group "So, if I pull on that, what inflates? The tires?

Here's your sign.

The stripes are just visual and add aesthetic appeal, if you're into that sort of thing. A tow hook is functional, only in a race environment.

But - some of the "pull to inflate"-type stuff doesn't involve racing, and is good-natured humor.. so I like that angle.
