R56 What a sensitive little car!
Read this today and thought "I still don't think a 22mm should be too big". Sure enough I caught some water going over a hill that is also a turn. Car oversteered and hit the inside curb. Took the car up the grass and (after checking the road) across the street into the nearest cross-road. I think just the lip under the bumper and the radiator/windshield fluid were damaged. Might have bent a control arm. First thing in my mind as I was trying to recover it was "Damn sway bar!"
Now, I also will be expecting you to say 19 mm sway bar is enough. When it goes, it is quite sudden.
Yea it was the center setting. Lesson learned.
When everything is back to an even keel with the car and you want to learn about oversteer and understeer safety, connect with me (in the spring of next year). Perhaps a day or two out at Lime Rock or Watkins will help. Veggivet and I are always out there and we do a lot of oversteering and 4 wheel drifts on the track.
Don't add anything more to your car.
